The special music was provided by Jim Harbor and Kathy Grant and the ushers were Larry Schmidt and Dave Garthus. The interment service was held at the Cadillac Community Cemetery. Fred is survived by his best friend of nine years, his little dog Penny; his children, Gina (Frank) Duchcherer, Bernie (Tracey) Waddington, Carla (Randy) Collette and Cathy (Travis) Nerada; brother, Gerry Waddington; sister, Sue Haglund; and by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his mother, Denise Waddington (Albinet), his father, George Waddington, his brother, Gene Waddington and Eddie Waddington, his sister, Helena (Lena) Schmidt, and his wife, Marie Waddington (Garrelle). Fred attended school at Cadillac, SK, and married Marie Garelle in Malta, Montana on August 7, 1962. He was employed as a farmhand for various farmers in and around Val Marie and worked at Transport City for many years, as well as Swift Sanitary Service, and Commerial Hotel in Maple Creek. All through these years he would help any farmer in the country with anything they needed help with. He was a member of the SSSHIA (greyhound racing), the Maple Creek Pool League and the Simmie Rec. Board. Fred was interested in hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and family, playing cards, music, watching old west movies, canning and cooking. He had a special place in his heart for all his family and his little dog, Penny. Fred was one of a kind, as in the words of Sandy Larson, "Your dad was a giant man in more ways than one could imagine. One of the last of the true cowboys. His passion for life. His determination and his strong will. His ability to get up and keep going in spite of the tremendous odds against him. A character in his own right. I will miss him, he was my friend." Anyone who knew him would agree. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Simmie Recreation Board, P.O. Box 27, Simmie SK, S0N 2N0. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
