SMALL, Frances “Rowena” – age 88 of Tiverton, Digby Co., it is with great sadness that we the family announce her passing on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Rowena was born in Freeport, on December 16, 1927 to the late Bernard and Eleanor (Tibert) Bouchie. After graduating high school, she attended Teachers College in Truro, and taught in Tatamagouche, Hantsport and Freeport Schools. On July 8, 1950, Rowena married the love of her life, Leonard Small, moving to Brantford, Ontario. Upon returning home to Nova Scotia, they settled in Tiverton, where Leonard ran Small Bros. Fish Plant. She loved life, music and travelling. Rowena and Leonard travelled many places around the world making many friends. She was a member and assistant organist of the Tiverton Baptist Church and was member of the Tiverton W.M.S. and the Tiverton Super Seniors. Rowena is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Small; sons, Rev. Roderick “Rick” (Mildred), Coldbrook; Russell (Beverly), Cornerbrook, NL; Stephen (Phyllis), Westwood, MA; grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew (Chistina), Adam, Natalie (Trent), Bradley, Timothy (Ashleigh), Tiffany (Jason), Allison (Cullen), Kristin (Jon) and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Summer, Jacklen, Carys, Nia, Conall, Brendan, Aine and Brea. Visitation will take place from 3-5 & 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 15, in the Tiverton Baptist Church, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 16. Rev. John Dickinson officiating, with Interment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Donations in her memory may be made to The Molly Appeal for Medical Research.
