It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother, uncle and friend Fred Ingram, age 93, who passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Burgeo, N.L. on May 26, 1922, he was the son of the late Fred and Fanny (Harris) Ingram.
Fred was a fisherman for a few years before moving to Halifax, where he joined cable ships, MV Quest and MV Cyrus Field until his retirement.
After the passing of his wife, Lucy, he moved back to North Sydney, where he enjoyed sport fishing and loved playing cards and checkers with his friends.
Fred was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney and was an honorary member of the North Sydney Seniors and Pensioners Club.
Fred is survived by his brothers, Howard (Freda) Ingram, Port aux Basques, N.L.. Edward 'Ned' (Stella) Ingram, North Sydney; sisters, Phyllis Eccleston, Michigan, USA and Marie Keeping, North Sydney. He is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews and good friend Marlene Williams.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Lucy (Poole) Ingram, three brothers, George, Winston, Sidney, brothers-in-law John Eccelston, Arthur Keeping and sister-in-law Gladys Ingram.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church North Sydney with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.
