MAYO, GERALD JAMES
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerald James Mayo of Durham Bridge, NB, much loved husband of the late Mary Morrison and father of Arabella, Peter and Samuel Mayo. He was born in Saint John, NB on December 17, 1929. He was the son of the late William and Hallie Mayo (McElwain).
Gerald was a teacher in rural New Brunswick from 1960 to 1970, working in Ashland, Sussex, St. Andrew’s, Plaster Rock, Durham Bridge, Juniper and briefly at Rothesay.
He was predeceased by sisters Elizabeth (Bessie) Bass, Joyce Mayo, and brothers Mark, John (Jack), Bernard, Medley and Brian. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Resting at Bishop’s funeral home, with visitation on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM. A funeral service will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Dean Geoffrey Hall officiating. Interment will take place at Centennial United Church Cemetery in Nashwaak Village on at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Orchard View Nursing Home, and the staff of Med-1 at the Oromocto Public Hospital for dad’s excellent end-of-life care.
