It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Claire E. MacNeil on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at Seaview Manor at the age of 91.
Born in Glace Bay, Claire was the daughter of the late John and Thecla (Pitts) MacNeil. Claire spent many years working for the Terron family of Ottawa, Ont.
She returned home upon retirement living 20 plus years at the John Dan Complex, Sterling Road. Claire was an exceptional craftswoman and baker.
She is survived by her brother, John C., London, Ont.; sister-in-law, Pasty MacNeil, Sydney; brother-in-law, Doug MacInnis, Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews as well as a special niece, Jacqueline MacInnis (Donald Headley); sons, Taylor, Jordon.
She was predeceased by sisters, Betty Anne, Mary Flo, Mary Anne; brothers, Joe, Jimmy, Ninian, Maurice, A.J. MacNeil and John Bosco.
In honouring Claire's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A special thank you to Dr. Mark Ellerker and the staff of Seaview Manor for the exceptional care and compassion given to Claire.
