It is with heavy hearts and sad souls that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Donna Darlene Sinclair, age 71. Donna passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
The angels took our beautiful, strong and brave mother and grandmother to a place where she will be reunited with her parents, Frank and Florence; sisters, Elaine and Frankie; brother, Brian and brother-in-law, Alonzo.
Born in Glace Bay March 16, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Richards) Corbett.
Mom was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and we know, that you know how much we love you and how grateful we are for everything you have been for our family. There was never a time that you weren’t there when we needed you for your wisdom and for the lifetime of memories we are so blessed to have made with you. You were the matriarch of this crazy Sinclair clan and you will be forever remembered as just that. You will always be in our hearts, and when we are together as a family we will share our memories, and there will be laughter… lots of laughter.
Mom took great pleasure in going to dances with Da, or just taking a swirl around the kitchen as we all watched. She was also a great bowler, and she loved it when she got a strike, and she got many. Mom was a terrific cook and baker, and thank God she passed the talent down to me. She also took great pleasure in going to Meranda and Shawn’s hockey games, she loved watching them play. Ma also loved spending time with Gaige, Journie and Shunaye, she couldn’t wait for them to come over to watch cartoons. She also enjoyed going to bingo with the girls. At the end until she couldn’t do any more, she took great pleasure, going for drives with Da and Oreo, just to get a coffee, and park at the beach.
Ma was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her loving husband, Dennis Sinclair and Oreo, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her daughters, Darlene (Shawn), Ida (Kevin); sons, Shawn (Ashley), Brian (Joanne); grandchildren, Meranda, Shawn, Gaige, Journie, Shunaye, B.J., Kevin; brothers, Ricky (Irene), Byron, Roy, Lance, Nick; sisters, Julie, Paulette (Donald) Sexton, Francene (Junior), Debbie, Denise (Danny) and Linda.
In honouring Mom’s request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St.,Glace Bay. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorial donations in Donna’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Asthma Society of Canada.
At this time we would like to send a sincere Thanks to Dr. Ajuwon, the nursing staff at the New Waterford Hospital and to the VON, for all the wonderful, loving care that they gave to Mom in her time of need. We would also like to give a special thank you to our dad, Dennis, for taking such great care of our mom, and he did it with pride. Dad devoted his life to taking care of our mother, showing us the true meaning of love and honour. We thank you Da and so does Ma, for she loved you dearly.
Online condolences to the Sinclair family maybe expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
