Margaret Steele, age 99 passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Born in Dominion, July 15, 1916, Margaret was the daughter of the late William and Josephine (O’Neill) Graham.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport and a founding member of the Dominion Garden Club. Margaret was an avid skater and was well known in many rinks.
She swam at Dominion Beach and the Big Reef well into her 80s. She had a passion for travel and a great love of nature.
Margaret is survived by her children, Mike (Mary), Teresa, Alice (Danny) and John; sister-in-law, Ethel Graham; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one four- legged grandson, Mack, all of Dominion.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Angus; daughter, Mary; sons, Bill, Graham and Jimmy. She was also predeceased by sisters, Sr. Teresa (C.S.M.), Mary, Alice; brothers, Francis, William, Fr. Joe Graham and Harvey.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Danny Boudreau officiating. Interment will beheld at a later date in the parish cemetery.
