Date de décès : 1er février 2016

Wayne and Deborah regret to inform of the sudden passing of their mother Theresa 'Marie' MacDonald at the age of 84 on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late James William and Elizabeth Ann (Nunn) McGuire.
She was the youngest of six children whose life began on the family farm on Grand Lake Road. There were always stories of “times back then”. She told stories about the ice house, the dairy farm and the many mornings she collected eggs for breakfast from the hen house. She had many pets growing up, including a baby deer, a lamb, dogs and chickens. Mom attended Holy Angels High School and during that time started working for the telephone office. She spoke often of her times and friendships as an operator. She was a former member of St. Joseph’s parish, Sydney. She will always be remembered for her Liberal affiliations and Irish roots.
She met her husband one summer on the sandbar in Northside East Bay. They married in 1952 and began their journey in life together. Mom then went on to work for Crowells Ltd. on Charlotte Street for 30 plus years. She worked in ladies department but it wasn’t until she moved to the children’s department that she was the happiest. She looked forward every year to the children and their parents coming back, a year older, for that special outfit. She started a board in the department, postings pics of children who always came to her to get that special outfit. It soon overflowed with pictures.
Mom is survived by her son, Wayne MacDonald (Johanne), Fredericton, N.B. and her daughter Deborah Neville, Sydney. She is also survived by beautiful granddaughters, twins Stefanie (Chris) and Vanessa and Erine; step-grandson, Nick (Leanna). She is also survived by one brother, Patrick McGuire and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Angus ‘Gus’ MacDonald, brothers Willie and Jimmy, sisters Rita and Elizabeth and by her son-in-law Tony Neville.
The funeral mass for the late Mrs. MacDonald will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating, reception to follow. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Mary’s Church Building Fund.
“May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.”
