We, the family of James Patrick 'Jim' Crant, 63, of Main Street, Florence, regret to announce his passing on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Halifax, Jim was a son of the late John Crant and Ruby Wambolt (Chaddock).
He was employed as a stationary engineer at Northside Processing and former golf pro at Seaview Golf and Country Club.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice (nee Van Dyken); daughter, Genevieve (Adam) Read, Saint John, N.B.; son, John, Saint John, N.B.; grandchildren, Adelle and Jamie Read. He is also survived by his sisters, Genevieve Himelman, Marjorie (Mike) Lepage, Maxine (Rick) Fancey and Debbie (Ted Morrison) Crant, all of Elmsdale; brother, Bill (Betty), Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
