It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy Kazimer on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born Sept. 24, 1936, Peggy was the daughter of Wilson and Gertrude McLean of Dominion. A member of the first graduating class of MacDonald High School in Dominion, Peggy went on to graduate from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1956, and obtained her bachelor's degree from St. Francis Xavier University. She then began a career which would see her teaching at several area schools, including South Bar, Breton Education Centre in New Waterford, and Macdonald High School in Dominion. After retiring from teaching in 1994, Peggy kept in touch with her many friends and colleagues through her membership in the Retired Teachers Organization.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Ted, as well as her brothers, Clarence, British Columbia, and Ralph, Dominion. She is survived by her sons, David, Halifax, and Bentley, Alberta; daughters, Kim, Saskatchewan, Cheryl, San Diego, Kelly, Halifax; brother, Bob, Greenwood, and her ‘surrogate grandchildren,' Taylor and Jarrod Hill, Dominion.
Peggy’s life was deeply enriched by her friends, all of whom she cherished immensely. She maintained lifetime friendships from her high school years, and was a longtime member of a ladies bridge club that met weekly to play bridge, and share their stories, lives, and laughter.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, Feb 12th at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with reception to follow immediately after in the church hall. There is no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, unit 4A, for their attention and care for Peggy over the last week.
