Doreen Lorraine Kelly - Age 80 of Avonport, formerly of Grand Pré, passed away peacefully February 9, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Grand Pré, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Barbara (Morine) Kelly. Doreen was a lifelong member of the Covenanter Church and St. Andrew's United Church, Wolfville. Doreen lived most of her life in Grand Pré and worked for 46 years at Stirling's Snackbar. Always a great pet lover, she cherished her cats, Sandy and Angel. Ever thoughtful of others, Doreen faithfully visited those in hospital or in nursing homes, delivered meals and sent out an abundance of cards. Doreen always enjoyed going to community and church teas, suppers and hymn sings. She had a wonderful circle of friends and acquaintances. She is survived by aunts, Margaret (Kenneth) DeEll, Alice Kelly and Golda Kelly; uncles, Gary (Evelyn) Morine, Herbert (Diana) Morine and Malcolm Kelly. Doreen will be fondly remembered by many cousins, relatives and friends. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. Gary Manthorne and Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pré.
