DAVID ZANE MacINNIS

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the death of David Zane MacInnis, aged 86, of East Mountain, N.S. Zane passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of February 13, 2016 after a brief illness. Raised in Glace Bay, N.S., Zane was the son of the late Donald Allan and Lydia (Turner) MacInnis. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a gentle soul who enjoyed sharing his love of music and books with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia, and a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University Class of '55 and Nova Scotia Technical University Class of '59. He was municipal engineer for the town of North Sydney, N.S. for many years, consulting engineer for W.N. Horner & Associates of Truro, N.S., and at the time of his retirement was a Project Engineer for Parks Canada, Western Division in Calgary, Alberta. Zane particularly enjoyed recounting the time spent in his youth as a surveyor on the D.E.W. Line project in northern Canada. Zane was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers J. Oliver, Linus, Thomas, and the Rev. Justin MacInnis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Eileen (MacNeil); loving daughters Leanne (Paul) Bos, Modesto, California, Cheryl (Peter) Unruh, Fort Langley, B.C., and Jennifer Erin MacInnis, East Mountain, N.S.; sisters Joan Crowell, Karen (Robert) Hill, both of Halifax, N.S., Sheila (Guy) Richard, Edmonton, Alta., and Delia (Albert) Buffett, South Haven, N.S.; grandchildren Marika Bos, and Virginia and William Unruh. A service for family and close friends will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Interment to be announced at a later date. The family would like to extend special thanks to the medical staff of Colchester East Hants Regional Health Care Centre, Third Floor D Section, Truro, N.S. for their efforts in making Zane's final days comfortable.
