William Grainger

William Joseph Grainger age 83 of Swift Current, SK passed away on February 11, 2016. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 24, 2016 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Elaine Little officiating, and the Interment Service will take place from Mount Pleasant Burial Park at a later date. The urn bearer was his grandson Chris and honorary pallbearers were all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife Edith; his sons Jeff (Sheila) and their children Chris (Ang) and Nick (Krista) and great grandchildren Jada, Sydney, Farrah and Emerson, Clint (Michelle) and his children Duane (Andrea) and Colin (Robyn) and great grandchildren Calleigh, Ben and Ellery, Rob (Lori) and their children Alora (Ian), Wil and Lyza; and his daughter Lori (Monique). He is predeceased by his parents Dalton and Olive Grainger; and his brothers Bruce and Delbert. Bill attended school at Oak Knoll and in Rocanville, SK and then at Tech School in Saskatoon, SK where he learned his trade of mechanics. He married Edith Miller on March 12, 1955 in Moosomin, SK. The majority of Bill's life he was self-employed as owner/operator of Swift Wheel Alignment. He started the business in the early 1960's and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elk's for most of his life as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. For years, he golfed out at Gull Lake Golf Course and had a membership to Elmwood Golf Course in the early 1980's. Bill had many interests including golf whether it was playing or watching it on TV constantly, wood working especially in post retirement in Mesa, AZ where he and Edith wintered for 24 years, coin collecting, fishing-having numerous trips up north with his friends, and camping through out the years, having taken his family camping throughout western Canada and the northern United States such as Yellowstone, the Badlands and Mount Rushmore.
