Allister Edward 'Bo' Beaton
Lieu de naissance : River Denys
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allister Edward 'Bo' Beaton, age 84, on Feb. 22, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in 1931 in River Denys, Inverness County to the late John 'Jack' and Blanche (MacArthur) Beaton, Bo is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anna Mae (Binns).
Bo was employed at the Cape Breton Post for 46 years as the Press Foreman, a position he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a volunteer with many organizations over the years, including president of the Men’s Club at Holy Rosary Church, a dedicated baseball coach, member of the Residential Tenancy Board, Progressive Conservative Party volunteer and union volunteer. Bo’s family, including his children and his grandchildren, were such an important part of his life, and his reason for living. Both he and Mae were dedicated to their family, and provided a wonderful home in Westmount where many happy memories were created, and laughter was shared.
In addition to Mae, Bo is survived by his children, Edward (Jan) Beaton, Sydney, Nancy (Valerie Pelletier) Beaton, Halifax, Terry Chasse, Westmount, and Mary Jane (Daniel) Morrison, Westmount. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Daphne Beaton, New Hampshire, Pam Beaton, Yellowknife; grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan Beaton, Emily (Daniel) and Patrick (Erin) Chasse, Meaghan Beaton, Libby and Rory Morrison, Connor, Delaney, Anghus and Sophie Beaton, and Renee, Philippe (Susie), Marc (Jade), and Danielle (Scott) Pelletier; great-grandchildren, Eliana, Nadege and Evelyn; brothers-in-law, Frank (Carlotta) Binns, Eugene (Regina) Binns and lifelong friend, Gerard McNamara.
Besides his parents, Bo was predeceased by his sons, Paul and Allister 'Al' Beaton and by his sister, Mary Worobel; sister-in-law, Mary Lou MacPhee and brother-in-law, Edward 'Buddy' Binns.
Special thanks to Dr. Bernie MacIntosh, the VON staff and Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care and compassion.
A service commemorating his life will be held Thursday, Feb. 25th at 2 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home in Sydney.
