Joseph Maloney

Obituary
Maloney
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander NL on March 7th, 2016 Joseph Thomas Maloney aged 86 years. Predeceased by Agnes, his wife of 56 years whom he adored and loved for his entire life; his parents Catherine and John Mullowney; brother Stephen; as well as great-granddaughter Carly Feener. Survived by brothers Greg, Aiden, Paul, Bert, Brian and Eddie; and sister Madonna. Born in Sweet Bay, Bonavista Bay; as a young boy Joe grew up working on his father's schooner sailing the coast of Newfoundland. After getting his education he relocated to Gander where he was extremely well-known in the automobile sales business. Joe was honest and hard working. He started Central Forest Products and worked happily for many years in the industry with his sons, Joey and John. Joe had tremendous mechanical skills and was renowned for his ability to analyze and correct a wide variety of problems. He loved to tinker with equipment and fix machinery, and could come up with a solution no matter how complex the issue. He was always positive and never wavered from his faith and convictions. Family was his first priority and he never stopped believing in them regardless of the challenge. Whether it was an outing across Gander Lake with the family or cod fishing in the bay, he was happiest out in nature having those he loved all around him. Seeing him like that made us very happy too. Left with loving memories are his sons Joey (Evelyn) of Gander, John (Patty Ann) of Gander, daughters Catherine (Dennis) Squires of Shoal Harbour, Bernadette (Ed) Feener of St. John's, Anne Marie (Jerry) Pretty of Quispamsis, NB., Joan (Denis) Fitzpatrick of Moncton, NB, Mary (Chris) Barnes of Glovertown, grandchildren Alvin and Christopher Maloney, Michelle Parsons, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Edwin Feener and Heather Dicks, Cody and Dylan Hollohan, Joseph Maloney, Maria Maloney, Anna Barnes, great grandchildren Will, Jax and Nate Parsons, Abigail and Maggie-Kate Fitzpatrick, Emmie and Caden Feener and Orion Maloney-Day. The family would like to thank the management and staff of the Health Centre Critical Care Unit, especially Nurse Amanda, as well as the very compassionate staff of Palliative Care for their support and assistance. They would especially like to thank Dr. Carmel Casey, Dr. Savage and Lillian for their years of commitment and care. Thank-you as well to Father Bill Pearce for his prayers and support to Joe and his family. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday March 9th at 11 o'clock at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Gander.
