Rushton, Lorna Margaret 79, Lower Truro, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Austin and Muriel (Flemming) Wickwire. Lorna was a leader in the Clifton 4 H Club for 16 years and was a Girl Guide and Brownie Leader. She worked for many years as a seamstress at Costandi Designs and enjoyed bowling every Tuesday with the league.
She is survived by her husband of 54-years Garnet Ellis; daughters Debbie (Walter) Rushton of Truro, Rhonda (Roddie) Blois of Truro, Joanne (Bill) Shand of North Vancouver, BC, Susan (Colin) MacDonald of Truro; grandchildren Samantha and Hannah Rushton, Carly and Jenna Blois, Spencer and Connor Shand; sisters Grace MacKenzie of Brookfield, Ellen Miller (Gary) of Truro; many brother and sister-in-law’s; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother George; brother-in-law John MacKenzie.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take place on Saturday from 6-8 pm and where funeral service will take place on Sunday, March 13th at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Ian Harrison officiating. Burial will take place in Eagle Hill Cemetery, Westchester. Donations in memory may be made to the Eagle Hill Cemetery or to the Palliative Care Unit of CEHHC, Truro.
