It is with sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful lady. Jessie MacIntyre, formerly of Cottage Street, Glace Bay passed away at Taigh Na Mara Nursing Home on Friday, March 11, 2016. Jessie was a resident of Taigh Na Mara for several years.
Born in Glace Bay, Jessie was the daughter of the late Roderick and Sadie (McInnis) MacIntyre.
Jessie was a long time member of St. Anne's Church. She was a well respected school teacher having taught at St. John's School retiring after many memorable years. She was a very caring and loving person. She was thought of as a second mother to Bernadette Gilmet and her children, Denise, Leigh Ann and Bernie.
Jessie will be sadly missed by her sister, Sister Mary MacIntyre, Caritas Residence, Halifax.
Besides her parents, Jessie was predeceased by her sisters, twin, Betty and Bernice.
There will be no visitation for Jessie. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Curry's Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in Jessie's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
