Angus Blackwood, beloved husband of Mary, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Gus was the first born of twelve children and lived in Brookfield, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland, until the age of 17 when he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. For thirty-five years he worked and traveled abroad and across Canada to support and raise his family. His heart has always been back at home in Newfoundland. Gus will be sadly missed by his wife of fifty-five years Mary (nee Taylor); his four children, Susan (Dennis), Liz (Alex), Dennis, Tim (Shawn); grandchildren, Trudy (Shaun), Anthony (Tamara), Torin, Jennifer, Annalise, Thomas, Kyle, Baxter and Harrison; his great-grandchildren, Amanda, Noah, Alexis, Johnny and Olivia; five brothers, Eric (Aline), Job (Myra), Charlie (Louise), Colin (Greta) and Jeff (Wanda); and sisters, Alice (Jim), Henrietta, Martha (Glenn), Rosalind (Ted) and Della (Greg), and numerous other family and friends. Gus was predeceased by his mother and father Pearl and Jim; his grandson Adam; his sister Sophie; and brothers-in-law: Carmen Cooze, Gary Glass, nephew Blair Greening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie.) on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
