COLE, ROBERT "BOB"
Robert “Bob” Gerald Cole, born July 14, 1939 to Charles and Dorothy (Ellis) Cole. Bob was a family man and that meant family came first in his life. He lived his life to the fullest fighting the hard fight in his own determined way and never giving up right to the end. Fighting the cancer battle at his side was his number one nurse and loving wife Joan (Brown) Cole, children Cindy (Bob) Hampton, Wendy (Bill) Arsenault, Kevin (Heather), Mark (Dianna), Gerald (Tara) and Brent Cole, grandchildren Kaitlin Cole, Jessica Cole and Rob, Sarah Cole and Colby, Matthew Cole and Courtney, Shelby Cole and Justin, Cody Arsenault, Cheyenne Cole and Kody and Carly Cole, great-grandchildren Kylie and Mariah Crowley and Alyssa Stevens. Special daughter Helena Berryman. Bob also leaves behind sister Beatrice Burrell of Summerside, PEI, brothers and sisters in law Irene Cole Cambridge-Narrows, Gloria and Jim Clark and Gilfred and Carol Brown of Saint John as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephew and many friends.
Waiting to welcome him to his eternal home are his parents Charles and Dorothy Cole, his in-laws Frank and Neta Brown, brothers and sisters Charles, Herb, George, Bill, Philip, Frank, Evelyn Cole, Amy Turner, Marjorie Greenslade, Jane Moski, and Dorothy Viger, along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob loved horses, hunting and tractors. He had numerous ponies and horses over the years, enjoyed hunting with his brothers, sons and grandsons and in later years fixing up John Deere tractors. He taught his children and grandchildren what a real work ethic was and lived it every day.
Bob over the years worked for the City of Saint John as a heavy equipment operator, at the Irving Oil Refinery as a carpenter during the first expansion, he was a shipliner for the Port of Saint John, he was a business owner (C & C Tack Shop) and an independent truck driver, retiring in 2003. He was one of the original Saint John Police Auxiliary, co-founder and 1st President of the New Brunswick Appaloosa Horse Club and until his passing a member of the Saint John Port Honor Guard (ILA).
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As requested there is to be no visitation. Funeral to be held on Tuesday, March 22nd at 2:00 pm at Edith Avenue Baptist Church, 20 Edith Avenue. Reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Edith Avenue Baptist Church or to the donor’s choice.
