It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Caroline Christina Keeping, 85, on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Sarah (Kendall) Burns.
Caroline loved to bake and was also an avid cards and bingo player.
Caroline was predeceased by her husband Cecil; grandson, Jimmy; sisters, Florence, Mary Ellen, Teresa and Marion; brothers, John, Ray, Mike, Andrew, Frankie and Johnny 'Mick'.
Caroline is survived by sons, Jimmie (Barbara), Ray (Polly) and John (Kelly), all of New Waterford; daughters, Shirley (Gerald) Hogan, New Waterford, Sharon (Sam) Pink, Elizabeth 'Bitzie' (Sam) Organ and Jane Keeping (Hayward), all of Newfoundland. She is also survived by one sister, Jackie; one brother, Michael 'Pepper'; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 11 a.m. in All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford, with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
