HOPKINS, Frederick Bruce, 66, Doctor’s Cove, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at home. Born in Barrington he was the son of the late Fred and Bertha Hopkins. Bruce is survived by daughters, Nichole (Tony) Hopkins, Victoria (Calvin) Hopkins, April (Wendell) Scott; grandson, Dylan; granddaughters, Alisha, Shea Lynn, Jayna, Jessica; two great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Jean) Hopkins; sisters, Winnifred Hopkins, Laura Perry, Lina (Wendell) Murchison; Sheryl Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews, among them being his two hunting pals, Jeffrey and Kelly. Bruce was predeceased by father, Fred; mother, Bertha; sister, Margaret; granddaughter, Chelsea Hopkins; brothers-in-law, Nelson Perry and Milford Grayley. In earlier days Bruce was happiest when either sea ducking off the Outer Rock or black ducking on Blanche Island with Jeffrey and Kelly. Another favourite place for Bruce was Mik Chick Lake where he spent many hours fishing with Nichole and Victoria. This was also Bruce’s happy place to spend time with his brother and camp friends, Nelson (deceased), Roger, Brian, Paul, Kelly, Tony, Calvin and the two Dons. Another important part of Bruce’s life was the cats he fed faithfully every day. These cats were strays and knew where they could get a meal and at the time of his death he was feeding nearly 20 animals. Nichole and Victoria will continue to care for all of his cats. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the care of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Barrington. There will be no service as per Bruce’s wishes; instead there will be a celebration of his life held Saturday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at brother Robert and Jean’s home, 166 Oak Park Drive. Memorial donations are welcome in the form of cat food and cat litter which can be brought to Robert’s or his home in Doctor’s Cove anytime. Online condolences may be sent to: huskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
