Hugh Gouthro, 99, a native of Glace Bay, passed away April 5, 2016, at the Bay St. George Longterm Care Center, Stephenville Crossing, Nfld.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Duncan and Margaret Gouthro.
Former member of St. Ann's Church and a lifetime honour member of the K.O.C. in Glace Bay and Stephenville, Nfld.
He was a veteran of the Second World War and was an auto mechanic by trade. He retired to Newfoundland 19 years ago.
He is survived by one son, Hugh (Helen), Edmonton, Alta.; four daughters, Ann (Terry) Penney, Port au Port, Nfld., Winnie Morrison, Sydney River, Mary (David) Achorn, Lawrencetown, N.S., Kathy (Ron) Wheeler, Cambridge, Ont.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife, Florence; son, Sheldon; grandson, David Hugh Achorn; son-in-law, Donnie Morrison; five sisters and a brother.
Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
