CHAPMAN, PHYLLIS M.
The passing of Phyllis Marie Chapman of Fredericton, widow of the late Ernest E. Chapman, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was 85. Born July 28, 1930 in Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Mae (Carnahan) Bell.
Phyllis attended St. James Presbyterian Church, Hanwell, NB. She was a member of Fredericton Branch No. 4 RCL and an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion for 51 years. Phyllis was employed as a Cashier and a Baker in Fredericton for a number of years and worked at Dominion Stores Ltd., Tingley’s Save Easy and most recently with Sobey’s.
Phyllis leaves behind her much loved daughter, Lori Martin (Terry) of Hanwell and a cherished granddaughter, Emily Martin of Hanwell. Also surviving are her 10 siblings, Arnold Bell (Olga), Art Bell (Olive), Gerald Bell (Addie), Lois Burke, Shirley Pole (Stu), Irene Markham, Dave Bell (Joanne), Lou Royal, Walter “Bud” Bell (Cathy) and Norman Bell (Diana); brothers-in-law, John Chapman and Ron Chapman; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband Ernie (1972), she was predeceased by a sister Jean Phillips and brothers-in-law Russell Phillips, Ken Royal, Bob Markham and William “Bill” Burke.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Members of the RCL, Branch No 4 Ladies Auxiliary as asked to assemble at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:45 PM for a Legion Tribute Service beginning at 2:00 PM. A service celebrating the life of Phyllis Chapman will be held from St. James Presbyterian Church, 1991 Hwy 640, Hanwell, NB on Monday, April 18 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Wendy MacWilliams will officiate. Interment in the Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date.
Due to allergies, the family requests no real flowers and no perfume be worn during the visitation or funeral service.
