Madeline McGraw

Madeline McGraw

McGraw, Madeline Mary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear aunt Madeline Mary McGraw on May 6, 2016. She passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home, her residence for the last two years.
Born in Port Elgin, NB on July 1, 1921, Madeline was the daughter of the late Daniel McGraw and Marie Legere.
Madeline had many nieces and nephews, however she was particularly close to and loved by Ronald, Shirley, Kenneth, Paul, Paulette, Christine and Paul, the children of her brothers Herman and Charles.
Madeline endured several burdens in her life, but she faced them with quiet determination, grace and dignity. She was admired by us all for her work ethic, her dedication to her close friends, her ability to find humor in mostly everything, and her strong faith. She will be deeply missed.
Madeline was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She often talked about how she anticipated rejoining her parents, her sister Marian, and her brothers Frank, Fred, Charles, and Herman. We often told her the reason she was gifted with such a long life was that her brothers intervened with God to keep her here on earth as they needed time to get ready for her!
The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home, for their exceptional care, compassion and love shared with Madeline. Their kindness was greatly appreciated by the family during Madeline’s last days.
And to Martha McGraw, Madeline’s sister-in-law, a special thank you for unrelenting love and generosity that you showed Madeline. You truly are a Saint.
The family has requested no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 12:10 pm, at The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John, where Madeline was a faithful member for over 60 years. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
Donations to the Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation or the Cathedral Restoration Project would be appreciated by the family.
