It is with great sadness that the family of Wade Eric Hickes announces his passing, which occurred on May 8, 2016 while working in Fort St John, BC. He was born April 22, 1969, the son of Robert Hickes and the late Constance (Loeman) Hickes.
Wade is survived by his children Katlyn and Nathan Hickes; their mother Nancy (Coughlin) Hickes; cherished granddaughter Gabriella; siblings Richard Allaby (Hope) of Hampton, Robert Hickes (Christine) of Saint John; John Hickes (Christine) of Dartmouth, Cindy Andrews (Mike), Terry Hickes, Bonny Cormier (Robert), and Vickey Barry, all of Saint John and Blaine Hickes (Jana) of Quispamsis, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Wade worked for St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home for many years in various positions and was actively involved in the CUPE union. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball which gave way to becoming a vocal spectator as his daughter and son took up various sports. Wade enjoyed playing poker and dancing, but above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm and Friday, May 13 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
