Louis Arsenault

Louis Arsenault

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lou Arsenault at his home in Carlisle on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in his 77th year after a courageous battle with cancer. Husband of Evelyn (Malone) for 54 years. Loving father and inspiration to Sheri (Dave), Shane, Susan (Norman), Scott (Carla), and Sandi. Cherished Papa of JD, Brittany, Tyler, Brooke, Jacob, Katie, Brandon, Bradley, Sarah, Ryan, Alexandra, Nicholas, Paige, Matthew, Elise, Rebecca, Noah and Trent. Brother of Clair (Kay), Roger (Ann-Louise), Norman (Lillian), brothers-in-law John (Molly), Alyre and sisters-in-law Phyllis and Faye. Predeceased by his parents Jerome and Margaret, brother Fred, sister Gertrude and his son-in-law Shawn. Lou was a special father figure to his nieces Lynn, Kelly (deceased), Sharon, Patty and Laurie. He will be fondly remembered as well by his many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Aunts Beatrice and Jean and Uncle Paul were near and dear to his heart as well as his huge extended family and friends. Born in Howlan, P.E.I., he came to Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 16. He retired at 51 after 35 years of service at Dofasco to follow his passion for horses on his farm. Another of his greatest joys was his 18 grandchildren and supporting them in all their endeavours. He was a faithful and philosophical man who didn't believe in living in the past but always looking forward to the future. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks for the wonderful care and support from the many doctors, nurses, and support staff that made his last few months at home so precious to us. Friends and relatives will be received at Kitching, Steepe & Ludwig Funeral Home, 146 Mill St. North, Waterdown, Ontario, on Saturday, May 14, from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, May 15, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Bishop Douglas Crosby at St. Thomas The Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 715 Centre Rd., Waterdown, Ontario, on Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Waterdown Royal Canadian Legion, 79 Hamilton St. North (Centre Rd.), Waterdown, Ontario. Interment at Our Lady of Mount Carmel following cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Arsenault Army Team at Flamborough Relay for Life (relayforlife.ca) would be greatly appreciated.
