Crowell, Sadie- age 93, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2016. She was born in Brazil Lake on June 3, 1922, to the late Leland and Edna Annis. As a young lady, she worked at the clothespin factory in Carleton, until she married at the young age of 17. She then devoted her life to raising her ten children. Widowed at the age of 57, she overcame many obstacles to become as independent as possible, learning such things as how to drive her car. She remained in the family home where she and Earle raised their children, caring for herself and the family home until her passing. She is survived by sons, Larry (Florence), William (Lida), Reigh (Leona), Gordon (Mary), Mike (Sharon) and Tim (Nancy) and daughters Donna (Basil), and Laura Lee (Gary), and sister Muriel Deveau. She is also the proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Earle, daughters Eleanor and Carla, sister Pearl and brother Leland. Visitation took place at the United Baptist Church in Kemptville, Yarmouth County, NS, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm, Rev. Robert Gates and Rev. Rick Warner officiated. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the United Baptist Church of Kemptville, or the Hatfield Memorial Cemetery. Funeral services have been entrusted to Sweenys Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth.
