George Ryan

RYAN, GEORGE THOMAS
It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Thomas Ryan, loving husband to Rose (Fenton) Ryan, announces his passing which occurred on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice with his family by his side. He was born on August 6, 1928 to the late Thomas and Margaret (Purtill) Ryan.
George was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His strong work ethic will never be repeated. He was always there to help all of his neighbours, friends and relatives.
George’s working career involved all forms of construction and manual labour. He retired from Rocca Construction as a Job Site Superintendent. He was a jack of all trades and had all the scars to prove it. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 6581 and a member of St. Pius X.
If he had any spare time, he spent it with his family at the camp on the “Sweep” in Sussex. He enjoyed a good game of cards in which he was a master cheater and always had an ace literally up his sleeve. He was a man of few words but the legacy he leaves, there are no words to describe how much of a man he was.
George will be missed dearly by his surviving family, his wife, Rose, his children: Shelly Graham, Libby (Peter) MacLeod, Danny (Rose) Ryan and Timmy Ryan, his sister Lois McHugh, grandchildren: Jennifer, Sara, Patrick Graham, Colleen MacLeod, Katie Ryan, Catherine Ryan, his great grandchildren Riley Given and Terrence Graham, along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his siblings: Kay, Rita, Irma, Jimmy, and Walter, his son-in-law Terry and grandson Joshua Graham.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Pius X, 316 Somerset Street, at 10 AM on Thursday, May 19 with interment to take place at Ward’s Creek Cemetery at 1 PM.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice of a charity of donor’s choice.
