FRANCIS, PHILIP "PHIL" SIMMONS
The death of Philip Francis, beloved husband of 57 years to Margaret (Palmer) Francis occurred on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born on April 19, 1936 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Philip and Bessie (Doull) Francis.
Phil had a long career with NBTel, retiring in 1991 as an internal auditor. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment with Margaret and his family. Phil was a founding member of the local Alzheimer Society and also served at the provincial and national levels. He actively volunteered with several organizations and always took great pride in serving his community. Phil loved the outdoors, especially the times spent at his cottage in Cambridge Narrows with his family. He was a skilled artist and enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, Phil is also survived by their children, Ross Francis (Dorothy) of Ottawa, Susan Higson (Robert) of Moncton and David Francis (Kimberley) of Quispamsis; sister, Florence Good (the late Bill) of Steeves Mountain; grandchildren, Christopher Francis, Patrick Francis, Michael Francis, Ashley Higson and Scott Higson; step-grandchildren, Jessica Matush and Jason Middleton; step-great-granddaughter, Arya Chase; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 12:00 Noon. A private interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
