It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Bob Hutt, age 81, on Monday, May 23, 2016 on the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on Little Tancook Island on April 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Denzil and Amanda (Cross) Hutt both of Little Tancook Island.
As a young boy his family moved to Louisbourg where he was raised until he married. Then returned to Louisbourg (where his heart always remained) for a number of years to look after his mother, Amanda.
Bob is survived by his common law wife, Joan Kolchetski, her children, Lisa Bobbett and Rob Kolchetski; his children, Gerry (Sharon) Hutt, Leslie Anne Hutt, Stephanie Annette (Rob) Bogs; the mother of his children, Marion ‘Sis’ Eliuk; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Murray, Gordon and Virginia, many nieces and nephews, as well as his best friend, Micky
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Peter Hutt and Lloyd ‘Bud’ Hutt. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was employed as a plumber and pipefitter, travelling to many provinces to work. He was a long-standing member for 56 years with the U.A. Local Union 682.
He was famous for his cooking. He took great pride in everything he made, always made enough for an army and would deliver it to friends and family. And, of course to all who knew him well his food was always "the best" and it was. Up to recently he was still making his own homemade bread, sauerkraut and famous Lunenburg sausage. He will also be remembered by his quick witted sense of humour, story telling, kindness and generosity. And last but not least will be fondly remembered and missed by Micky on their Saturday's together playing Chase the Ace and daily coffee at the mall.
From his three children "Dad, you will be always in our hearts, we love you and we will miss you until the time we are all together again".
Bob’s wishes were to be cremated with no visitation or funeral services.
Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
