FRASER, OWEN
Owen Fraser, 73, of Lewis Mountain passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, June 3, 2016. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late A. McKay and Clara (Irving) Fraser.

Following retirement in 1996 from a teaching career at Harrison Trimble High School, Owen followed his lifelong dream of starting a summer camp for children and Camp Centennial became a reality. Being heavily involved in Camping, he was a member and past president of the New Brunswick Camping Association and the Canadian Camping Association. He was organist and choir director at St John’s United Church in Moncton. He received numerous awards and recognitions including the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Foundation.

He is survived by his brother Neil and Marg Fraser of Dieppe, nephew Darren and Dawn Fraser and their children Graydon and Maddison of Fredericton, niece Debbie and John MacDonald and their son Connor of Dieppe, an aunt, Agnes Prosser of Calgary as well as several cousins.

Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) on Tuesday, from 6 to 9 p.m. A service to celebrate Owen’s life will be held at St. John’s United Church, 75 Alma Street on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the service.

In memory of Owen, donations to St. John’s United Church or Camp Centennial would be appreciated by the family.
