It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Harriet, age 80, on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph and Faustina (Bates) Harriet.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Christina (MacVicar); son, Bryan (Renee) Harriet; daughters, Johann (Richard) Emery, Valerie (Michael) Coviello all of the USA; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brother Albert (Judy) Harriet, Sydney, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Joel Harriet, brothers, Ernest, Arthur and William and in-laws, Stirling and Jennie MacVicar.
Cremation has taken place, as per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services
A private interment will be at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, Sydney.
