Chambers, Cecelia H. - Age 91, of Parrsboro passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Colby J. and Margaret (McClelland) Ayer. She was a graduate of the Parrsboro Schools. She immediately began her career with the Royal Bank. Following her marriage to James in 1948, she commenced a long career with Canada Post. She was a long serving member of the Order of Eastern Star, Parrsboro Band Auxiliary, was an organizer of the 1967 Canadian Centennial Committee, was a CGIT leader, the Parrsboro Baptist Church, and the Willing Workers. Although an active community member, she enjoyed most the time she spent with her family. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Claude Chapdelaine), Londonderry; Carol, Parrsboro; Jacqueline (Ross White), Valley; sons, Jim (Sylvana), Wolfville; John (Shelley), Stratford, P.E.I.; a sister, Rose Pritchard, Blue Rocks, Lunenburg Co.; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Chambers in 1993; a daughter, Judy; two sisters in infancy; a brother, Wyman. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Tuesday [August 2, 2016] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 11 a.m. on Wednesday [August 3, 2016], Rev. Emmanuel Mutale officiating.
