Thomas Ronald Ward ‘Tommy’, 64, of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully August 2nd, at Grey Nun’s Hospital, Edmonton, AB. He was surrounded by his family who sang some of his favourite Cape Breton tunes to him. Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Margie; their children, Jasmin, Chris (Erin), Tyler (Maura), Ashley (Yan); grandchildren, Isaac, Olivia and Ethan; siblings, Charile (Elsie) Ward, John Joe (Eileen) Ward, Sue (Joe) MacArthur, Danitta Ward, Sammy (Raylene) Ward, Stevie (Terralynn) Ward, Tammy (Yvon) Pinoand many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Beatrice Ward; his brother, Jimmy and infant sister Genevieve.
Tommy was born in Glace Bay and grew up in Bateston. He was an avid baseball player, especially pitching. His favourite pastimes included tarbish, crib, fishing, playing guitar and horseshoes. Tommy was a hard worker. He worked at National Sea, Clearwater, Great Northern Casino and Royal Camp Services. Tommy was known to be a prankster and tormenter. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 12th at 2 p.m. at the Albert Bridge Fire Hall with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Tommy’s family doctor,Dr. Eragubi, Dr. Winkelaar, Dr. Lui, Dr. Carney and the many specialists and nurses of the ICU Dept. at Grey Nun’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
