Isabelle Brown

It is with heavy and sad hearts we announce the passing of Isabelle M. Brown of Athol on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, following a courageous 2 year battle of Paraneoplastic Cerebellar Degeneration, and more recently her 2nd battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Philip; a daughter, Lorelei McInnis (Courtney Tower), Nappan; a son, Peter (Teresa), Athol; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that were her whole world. As well, sisters, Barbara O'Laney, Amherst; Esther Boyd (Jack), Nappan; brothers, St. Claire (Judi), Peterborough, Ont.; Boyd (Jeannette), Brookdale; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Patti-Lee Brown; son-in-law, Jim Mclnnis; her parents, Vaughn and Flora (Chandler) Morris. Isabelle was born in Parrsboro where she met the love of her life, they lived in Ontario for a year and then moved back home to settle in Maccan for the next 20 years. They then built their home in Athol where she lived until her illness. Isabelle had the kindest and biggest heart of anyone, and everyone who knew her, loved her very much. She always had a smile for everyone. She enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, going back to the camp, summers at the cottage in Economy and just being with friends and family. She loved the outdoors and working in her garden. She worked various jobs over the years and always gave them 110 percent. Her last employment was with the VON which she loved dearly and made many good friends. She was also very involved with the Nappan United Church right up until the time of her illness. The family would like to thank everyone who called to let her know they were thinking of her and a special thank you to Iona Dwyer and Susan Smith for all of the cooking brought to the house during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the VON ladies for their care and compassion shown to Isabelle in her final moments and a special thank you to Allie, who became very special to her. A very special appreciation to Dr. Brian Ferguson; your care and compassion along with your many trips to Athol will never be forgotten. Isabelle was a “kind soul” that will never leave us. She will be missed immensely. Now it is her time to “fly with the angels.” Funeral service will be held 2 pm on Friday [September 9, 2016] at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Amherst, Rev. Bob Mack officiating. Burial to follow in the Parrsboro United Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Nappan United Church. Arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro.
