Date de décès : 28 septembre 2016

SPURR, Gordon Cameron – 56 of Melvern Square, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 28th, 2016, with his beloved family at his side. Born in Middleton, he is a son of Phyllis (Bent) and the late Lawrence Spurr. Gordon was a born again believer and had faithfully attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Melvern Square all his life and served there as deacon and treasurer. He graduated from Agricultural College in 1980 and in 1995 he proudly served as President of the NS Fruit Growers Association, being the 4th generation of Spurrs to do so. Gordon enjoyed his lifelong passion for farming with Spurr Brothers Farms Limited, continuing the legacy of the original farm dating back to 1875. He lived each and every day with gratification and lead by a humble, unassuming example. His smile was enough to brighten your day and your spirit always felt lifted after speaking with him for only a few moments. Gordon was always the first one to help a friend or neighbor in need with his encouraging ways. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Cheryl Ann (Skaling), his daughters; Katherine “Katie” Marie (Brad) Campbell of Melvern Square, Amy Elizabeth of Toronto, ON and his son Justin Lawrence of Meaghers Grant, NS. Also, his mother Phyllis of Melvern Square, his sister Nancy (Hal) Cross of Clarks Summit, PA, his brother William “Bill” (Bonnie) of Melvern Square, his beautiful granddaughter Hope and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him. Visitation was held on Saturday, October 1st at the Middleton Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Gordon’s life was held on Sunday, October 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Baptist Church, Melvern Square with Rev. Bruce Kaiser officiating. Gordon will be interred in the Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. By request, family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church building fund, Blomidon Bible Camp or the Canadian Cancer Society.
