Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre's Palliative Care on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 Elsie Maud Powell (Stead) age 99 years. Leaving to mourn her sons: Max (Iris), Melvin (Gloria), and her daughter and care-giver Elizabeth. Four grandchildren: Deanna Toope (Randy), Maxine Clarke (Tony), Janice Davies (Ben) and Serena Stead. Eight great-grandchildren: Brian, Justin and Michael Toope; Desmond and Caleb Clarke; Evan and Rhys Davies and Cassandra Stead; one great-great -grandchild Carson Toope. Two sisters-in-law: Mildred Stead and Mary Powell and a large circle of extended family and friends and her spiritual family of Jehovah's Witnesses. Predeceased by her husband Emore (1982) and her five brothers Garland, Leo, Lindsay, Simeon and Kenneth and three sisters Agnes, Ethel and Rita. Cremation has already taken place. Memorial service to be held, Saturday, October 15th, 2016 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 168 MacDonald Drive, St, John's. Interment to follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hamilton Ave. Ext. A special thanks to the staff at the Miller Centre's Palliative Care for Mom's tender care.
