It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jack (John) Keating, age 78, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placenita, formerly of Mount Arlington Heights - Long Harbour. Jack was a loving husband, father, grand-father, brother, special uncle and friend. Pre-deceased by his parents Maurice and Bridget Keating, brother Pad, sister Eileen and brother-in-law Cecil Greene. Leaving to mourn are his loving and devoted wife Beth, son Chris and daughter-in-law Bobbilynn, his cherished grand-daughters Jessica and Ashley, sister and best friend Mary Greene, brother-in-law Anthony Nolan, sister-in-law Jenny Keating, nieces, nephews and their families, a large circle of friends, and not to be forgotten his furry companions Sheiba and Calico. Thanks to the staff of Unit 1 at the Lions Manor Nursing Home for their wonderful care. He will always be remembered for his love of music and dance, but Beth will always have her memories of their first steps on the dance floor. It was their "Jive." Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 17th from 2pm to 9pm at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John's. Burial service to take place at Long Harbour Cemetery at 2pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
