Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, age 94. Left to mourn her passing but celebrate her life are her children: Marie Ladniak (Joe), Sandra Walsh (Cyril), Eddie Sweeney (Patricia), Anne Windsor (Algy), and Rosemary Curran; grandchildren: Gerard Rossiter, Helen Tobin (Mike Grey), Wanda Rossiter, Susan Bowen (Mark) and Jason Rossiter (Sandra Kavanagh), Cyril Walsh Jr., Bonita Walsh (Kenny Spurrell) and Cindy Walsh (Eddy McDonald), Billy Sweeney (Brenda Lawton), Trevor Sweeney (Gillian) and Angie Sweeney, Steven Windsor (Jana), Alison Dalton (Ray), Nicole Martin (Jason), and Lori Price (Paul); great-grandchildren: Christopher Rossiter, Jessica and Bradley Tobin, Jodi Rossiter, Emily and Ella Bowen, Katrina, Grace, Chrissy, Makenzie and Nolan Rossiter, Tyler and Jacob Spurrell, Brianna and Brooke Walsh, Brittany and Dillon Sweeney, Michael, Alexander and Nicholas Sweeney, Taylor and Nathan Windsor, Gracie, Brody and Faith Dalton, Emilee, Logan and Khloe Martin, Jackson and Julia Price; great-great-grandson Dante Rossiter and niece Toni Mitchum. Jessie is predeceased by her loving husband, William (of Ferryland); infant twin sons, John and Will; special granddaughter, Lana Curran; parents Alexander and Lucy (Hayes) Sullivan (of St. John's), as well as her brothers Edward and Bruce, and sister Helen Burke. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Agnes Pratt for caring for our Mother/Nan for the past 10 years. Jessie was the last living member of the Sullivan family. She and her siblings lost their parents at a young age, and she was raised at Belvedere Orphanage in St. John's. She met Willie Sweeney when he returned from WWII and moved to Ferryland where they raised their family. Jessie was an integral member of the Southern Shore community. She owned a store and jukebox, and operated an Avalon Telephone Company switchboard out of her home from 1964-1973, serving communities from Brigus South to Cappahayden. Visitation will take place at Fahey's Funeral Home in Fermeuse on Saturday November 26, 2016 and Sunday November 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Holy Trinity Church in Ferryland at 11 am. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
