It is with unspeakable sadness, that we the family announce the passing of Vincent “Vinnie” Nugent on Nov. 22, 2016, at the IWK Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Vincent Luca rushed into this World 13 years ago with little warning, eager to take it on. His name means “to conquer” and our little warrior did just that. He conquered all the hearts of those lucky enough to be near him. Vinnie had the walk of a man and the heart of a boy. Confident, yet gentle. Ever ready with a funny joke, a generous smile and a laugh to fill all the corners of the room. What we would all give to see that smile and hear that laugh just one more time. Vinnie lived through the music he loved, expressing himself with rap bars and beats. Marching to the beat of his own drum. His passion for music and desire to be understood attracted people like him; his friends. They say that music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. So please, Friends, continue to rap with Vinnie. Rap with him, for him, to him. He can still feel the beat. For hours Vinnie would put his creative skills to use in another of his pastimes. Video games were also an outlet for him to channel himself. Controlling a World all his own where he was free to explore, navigate, challenge, to level up. To accomplish. Much like a game, Vinnie chose when it was time to finish the quest. He’d gone as far in to the journey as he could and he chose when to put the controller down. We wish we could hit reset. To start the match again. Just one more round.
“We could look around for somebody to blame and still it would be the same.” Bones. Left to mourn are Vinnies loving mother, Amy (Mark MacKinnon) Doran, sisters, Rosa and Gia, Maternal Grandparents, affectionately known as “Nana” Charlotte and “Papa” Keith Pyne. Father, Ryan Nugent, and paternal grandfather, “Papa” Joe, also Donna Keough. Vinnie will also be missed by Aunts, Brittany, Tarra, and Sophia, and his Uncles, Blake and Glenn. Vinnie is predeceased by his sister, Karly Mae, in infancy. Visitation for Vinnie will take place Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 from 2-4p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday Nov 29, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
