It is with great sadness that the family of Donalda A Kyte announce her peaceful passing on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Taigh Solas, North Sydney. Donalda was born August 12, 1940 in Sydney Mines to Donald and Annie T MacLeod. Donalda grew up in Florence and spent her adult years in Millville until 2013 when she moved to Seaview Manor then to Taigh Solas in North Sydney. Donalda was a school teacher in Millville and retired from Boulardarie in 1994. She was active in her church and community. She was an elder and longtime choir member of St. John’s United in Big Bras d’Or and a member of St. John’s UCW. Donalda loved singing and was a member of Golden Tones Choir. She is predeceased by her husband, Louie Kyte; her parents and her brothers, Roderick ‘Roddie’ MacLeod and Ronald MacLeod. She is survived by her children, Ruth (Wally) MacAulay of SK, Peggi (David) MacEachern of Halifax, Neila (Eugene) Lee of NB and Amy (Scott) Beckman of Millville; beloved grandchildren, Ross (Jocelyn), Katee (Chris), Kris (Craig), Darcy, Jillian, Emily (Justin), Hannah (Ryan), Esther, Abbie, Olivia, Cheryl (Jamie), Courtney (John); great grandchildren, Oliver and Zoey; step children, Jerry (France) Kyte and Dana (John) MacNeil; step grandchildren, Charlotte, Sara, John-Michael and Ashley as well as sister and best friend, Ruth MacNeil; brother, Daniel (Judy) MacLeod and her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Taigh Solas and Seaview Manor as well as Home Care and others who took such great care of mom. Thanks to her special friends Joan and Eileen and neighbours, family and friends. A visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. Funeral Service at St. John’s United Church in Big Bras d’Or will be announced in tomorrow’s paper. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com. Inurnment of Donalda’s cremated remains will take place in the summer in Black Rock Cemetery. Family flowers only if desired, donations in Donalda’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
