GOUDEY, Ruth Bernice – age 86, of Pleasant Valley, Yarmouth Co, N.S, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on January 4, 2017. Born in Pleasant Valley on March 11, 1930 she was a daughter to the late Stewart and Annie (Hurlburt) Prime. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a foster mother her whole life and took great pride in her family. In her spare time she loved her flower gardens. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Dudley) Saulnier; son, Gary Goudey (Vivian); foster children, Norman Smith and Anthony Smith; grandchildren, Ruth, Maria, Kim, Laura, Karl, Scott, Kevin, Jesse, Kory; 13 great grandchildren, 6 great- great grandchildren and sister Lillian Goudey. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Jesse; daughter Patricia Deveau; son Carl Goudey; brother Roy Prime and great grandson Dominique. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral following at 2 P.M. all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Kevin Myers officiated. Interment followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to the N.S. Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
