Leonard William Jackson

Leonard William Jackson Leonard William Jackson

Date de naissance : 24 avril 1937

Date de décès : 13 janvier 2017

The family of Leonard William Jackson is filled with overwhelming sadness as we mourn the death of a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Len, the son of the late John and Valencia Jackson, was born in Ingonish on April 24, 1937 and would have been 80 years old in April. Len passed away peacefully at the CBRH Palliative Care Unit in Sydney following a sudden illness. Prior to his death, Len expressed how grateful he was for his nearly 80 years of life and over twenty years of retirement.
Len served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in the 421 Squadron as Leading Aircraftman. In later years, he worked for Parks Canada as a Carpenter Foreman. Len was a modest man of many talents. He was most at home in his well-equipped workshop. He could make, build or fix anything. Over the years, Len spent many hours ‘puttering away’ building model ships and train sets from scratch. He also enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of his backyard and time spent in front of his computer cataloguing family photos and the music he loved to listen to with his wife Maureen. Len could always be counted on to be there for his family, sisters, brothers, relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Len leaves behind his loving wife, Maureen (Hill); son, Jeffrey (Asher); daughter, Vanda; grandchildren, Kyle, Briana and Sarah; his sisters, Emily Spriggs and Shirley DeKouchay; brothers, Lou (Irene) and Doug (Jeanette); brother-in-law Gerald (Sue) Hill; sisters-in-law Sheila Calder, Janice MacCharles and Karen (Kevin) Minkoff and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his father and mother-in-law, George and Vera Hill; brothers-in-law, Johnny MacCharles, Clarence Calder and sister-in-law, Brenda Hill. Len’s family would like to express appreciation to Dr. MacKillop, Dr. MacInnes, Dr. Abboud, Tracey George and staff at An Cala Palliative Care Unit, Chaplin Leo Penny, Nurses James and Kaitlyn in 4B for their care and support. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Leonard Jackson may be made to An Cala Palliative Care Unit or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
