Lieu de décès : Windsor, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Florence Irene Smith, age 90, Windsor, Hants County, passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of the morning on Friday, January 13, 2017, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Milford, Nova Scotia, on October 29, 1926, Florence was the daughter of Earle and Lizzie (Whiteway) Carson. Florence lived in many communities in her early life, but moved to Windsor at age fourteen where she stayed and later made a permanent home with her husband, Guy, for almost 67 years. She dedicated herself to her family and others, even during her last days. All who knew Florence loved her for her kindness, generosity and great sense of humour. She loved music, not only singing and dancing but also playing the steel guitar. Florence instilled this love in her children and also her three grandchildren. Despite her hardships of life (including living through the Depression and World War II), Florence was positive, optimistic, cheerful and hoping for the best for all her loved ones. Florence is survived and will be so very sadly missed by her daughter, Marilyn Smith (Wendy Rogers), Beaver Bank; son, Richard Smith (Wanda Myers), Windsor; daughter, Judith Smith, Wolfville; grandson, Stephen Smith, Dartmouth; granddaughter, Alison Smith, Halifax; grandson, Wyatt Brown, Wolfville; half-brother, Raymond Carson, Windsor; many sisters and brothers-in-law, lots of nieces and nephews, and in fact by everyone who knew her. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Guy (2012); her parents; her brother, Herbert Lewis; and her infant son, David Ralph, whom she always held in her heart. According to Florence’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There was a short family graveside interment service at the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:00 am, which will be a time to say good-bye to both Florence and Guy. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staffs of Dykeland Lodge, Ivany House and Victoria Park Guest House. Special appreciation to Dr. Iona Wile and Dr. James Leahy. Thanks also to all friends who have contributed to Florence’s welfare and enjoyment throughout her lifetime. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
