COTTREAU, Martin Eloi – It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Dad, Martin Cottreau, who passed away on Monday, February 13 at Veteran’s Place in Yarmouth. Formerly of Wedgeport, he was born November 4, 1928 on Wilson Island. He was the son of the late Ambroise and Rose (Muise) Cottreau. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a fisherman and a jack-of-all-trades. His project after retirement was restoring his ’53 Packard, a project that made him proud of the job he did. Martin was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by sons, Stephen (Judy) Cottreau, Eric Cottreau, Chris (Eloise) Cottreau, Carl (Melonie) Cottreau; daughters, Sandra (Gordon) Pothier and Gail Cottreau as well as his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Cottreau. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Rosabelle who, because of his dementia, he was waiting for every day. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Yvonne (in infancy), Rita Cottreau, Gertrude Pratt, Emily Mingo, Louise Surette, Alice Burke, Theresa Bourque, Elise Christie; brothers, Cornelius, Eugene and Stanley Cottreau. Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday, February 21 with a Royal Canadian Legion service at 7:30 p.m., followed by prayers at 8 p.m., all at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 22 from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiating. Internment will follow in the parish cemetery.
