It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Minnie Frances (Tully) MacDonald, 87, Sydney Mines, on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney River, surrounded by her family and loving husband. Born in Sydney Mines on February 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Florence (Fraser) Gouthro. She lived her life with passion and purpose, demonstrating great care to those she loved-both family and friends. Frances (Tully) celebrated life to the fullest and always took the time to do the things she loved- dancing, Bingo, card games, travelling, enjoying music, and watching her favourite baseball team ‘The Toronto Blue Jays’. Left to mourn is her loving husband, James Colin MacDonald; her children, Peter (Florence), Terry (Nicole), Timmy (Bernadine), Tricia, and James (Stephen). Also left to mourn are her grandchildren, Sherry, Jimmy, Michael, Tara, Andrew, Jacqueline, Claire and Devyn, along with great-grandchildren, Ashton, Eric, Natalya, Blake, Shay, Atya, Layla and Philipe, as well as brothers, Stan (Rose) and Alfie.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Marie in infancy; siblings, Peter, Stella, Eddie and Rita and her half-sisters, Jenny and Margaret. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the staff at the Wentworth Facility at Harbourstone for all the years of excellent care and support they provided, especially during her final hours.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
