Layton Ralston Wasson

Layton R. Wasson CD, age 83 of People’s Park Tower, Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, February 12, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Advocate, NS, he was the son of the late Wylie and Vertie (Nuttal) Wasson.
Layton and Willah celebrated their Diamond anniversary on February 9, 2017. Layton was retired from the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. with 26 years’ service and from the Moncton Community College with 17 years’ service. He was a member of Visions United Church and the former Humphrey Memorial United Church and served on various boards within the Church for several years.
He was a member and Past Master of Keith Lodge #23 F. & A.M., Moncton, member of the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Past T.P.G.M., Moncton Lodge of Perfection, past Patron of Zetland Lodge #26, O.E.S., Shediac, former member of the NB Baseball Umpires Association for 25 years, former member of the Canadian Armed Forces Militia with 16 years’ service, having served as Master Warrant Officer, past President of the M.C.A. Curling Club from 1972 – 1973, member of the Peoples Park Seniors Group and a former member of the Citation Indian Trailer Club.
Layton enjoyed curling, playing pool and time spent with his family and friends. He and Willah spent over 15 years in Port Ritchey, Florida where he was past President and member of the Sundance Lakes RV Park Residents Club.
Layton will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Willah K. (Seeley) Wasson; daughter, Kathy Ann (Wasson) DeWitt (Albert) of Moncton; sons, Robert Wasson (Elizabeth MacKenzie) of Toronto, Kevin Wasson (Denise) of Saskatchewan, Gary Wasson (Marsha) of Ohio, USA; grandchildren, Joshua, Cody, Alex, Benjamin and Zander; sister, Louise Spicer (Duncan) of Apple River, NS; brother, Gordon Wasson of Moncton and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Scott, Alex, Lloyd and Murray.
The family extends a thank you to Drs. Sheehan, Dufour and Salam and Phelan, the Moncton Hospital Oncology Department staff, 4th Floor Oncology and the 3600 floor for their excellent care and compassion.
A Service to Celebrate and Honor Layton’s life will take place on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00 am from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
