It's with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Bert who left us on Feb. 20, 2017 at Buchanan Memorial Hospital.
Bert was the middle child of his predeceased parents, Gino Cesaroni & Caterina Chicco. Born in Belgium on March 6, 1950 he moved with his family to Toronto in 1958 and to St.Margaret's Village, Cape Breton with his wife & three children in 1981. Bert fought a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis & other obstacles but like his days before being diagnosed with MS at age 26, he fought the good fight. He often spoke stories of his healthier days especially his time working as a bouncer in Toronto at Beverly Hills, he never backed down from anyone or anything & always spoke his mind before and after his diagnosis of MS. Bert was able to strike up a conversation with anyone no matter if he knew them or not & he enjoyed trying his luck at the casino or reeling in a fish. He also enjoyed watching his old westerns or listening to his favorite Eagles or Neil Diamond songs. He was very proud of the home he put a lot of work into for his wife & children upon moving to St. Margaret's Village & could often be seen taking in the great view. Bert will always be remembered for his realness, his will power, his strength & his love for his entire family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Elaine who stood by his side through good & bad; his daughter, Carolyn (Allan) and children, Victoria, Cassandra, Catryna & Cameron and his other daughter, Cathy (Simon) and children, Vanessa & William, and his son, Shane (Patti) and child, Vienna.
Bert was very proud of & loved all his children, grandchildren & four great-grandchildren. Also he leaves behind his brother, Carlo & his five sisters, Anna (Steve), Gloria (Bob), Nadia, Mary & Tella (Jim) whom he wished he lived closer to & loved dearly. Celebration of Bert's life & burial of his cremated remains will be announced at a later date. Always in our memories & forever loved; rest easy Bert & God bless you.
