Passed away peacefully at Chancellor Park on February 25, 2017, Cornelius (Case) Korpel, age 87 years. Predeceased by his parents, Michiel and Ariana (Bakker) Korpel. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 62 years Kay; children: Rita (Fred), Michael (Ruby) and Ariana (Pete); grandchildren: Andrea, Freddie (Kelly), Adele (Chris), Mark and Christine; great-grandchildren: Noah, Logan and Nash; sister Elizabeth in Australia; sisters-in-law: Bouwiena in St. John's and Johanna (Piet) in the Netherlands; as well as nephews and nieces, extended family and friends. Born September 14, 1929 in The Hague, Netherlands, Cornelius immigrated to Newfoundland in 1953. Along with Kay they quickly made it their home, raising their family and operating a number of successful businesses over a 50-year period. The family would like to thank staff and doctors of Chancellor Park for their care and kindness. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place from Barrett's Funeral Chapel at 11 am on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 with a memorial reception to follow in Barrett's Reception Centre. Private family burial to take place at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
