Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Thursday, March 16, 2017, Daisy Cahill, age 103 years, of Bell Island. Daisy was the first born of Michael and Margaret (Bowdring) Cahill, and the last surviving member of the Cahill family. Many will remember her as the former postmistress of the Post Office at the Front of Bell Island, a position she held all of her working life. Leaving to mourn many nieces and nephews and their spouses, including Regina Coffey Kennedy, Sharon, Cathy, Larry, and Dolores Dunn, and nieces and nephews of the Cahill, Coffey, Earle and Murphy families. Predeceased by siblings and their spouses: Cyril (Enid), Dorothy Dunn (Laurence), Martin (Gertrude), Agnes Earle (Dermot), Mary Coffey (Bernard), Gerald (Lena), and Catherine Murphy (Gerald). Thank you to Daisy's caregivers - Colleen Doherty Lahey, Toni Lahey Taplin, Elsie Lahey, and Marilyn Ezekiel, and to others who had provided care to her in the past. Thank you to Dr. Alexa Laurie, Nurse Practitioner Eileen Besso, Lori Hann, and the staff at the Dr. Walter Templeman Health Centre on Bell Island. Visitation at Pendergast Funeral Home, Bell Island on Saturday March 18 and Sunday March 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Bell Island, on Monday, March 20 at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bell Island. Flowers gratefully accepted, as Daisy was an avid gardener and took great pleasure in flowers and all things of nature, or donations may be made to St. Michael's Parish, P.O.
